What is the California Grassroots Democracy Coalition?
The California Grassroots Democracy Coalition comprises 140+ grassroots organizations dedicated to helping California’s most disinvested communities become empowered through pro-democracy reforms. The organizations include a wide range of backgrounds including, but not limited to: criminal justice reform, immigrant rights, language access, low-income communities, environmental justice, religious, labor unions, and more.
Many of our members organize year-round and run integrated voter engagement campaigns across California to build power for our communities and fight to make sure that working class communities of color have a voice in our government.
Our coalition has joined together to advance a new vision for California’s democracy and dismantle racist barriers to civic participation that marginalize Black, Indigenous, people of color, naturalized citizens, young, low-income, and low English proficiency voters.
